Hey everyone, my wife and I just bought a house on 8.5 acres and beginning my tractor research. Hoping to buy a new tractor in the next few months and trying to get educated. My only tractor experience was driving an old MF doing orchard work in high school, so very limited. I can't wait to head out to a few dealers in my area to see what they have to offer. Now I just read more to see how much tractor I need!

Welcome from rainy Western WA. Whereabouts are you located? I had a place in Walla Walla so know your desert side fairly well.

Welcome to TBN and the forum from the dry side. You might want to fill out your location and give everybody an idea where your at.

A good start on "what tractor do I need" is a list. What are you planning on doing with the tractor. Winter snow plowing - driveway maintenance - gardens - fields to plow/plant/harvest - firewood to harvest - The more you know exactly what you want the tractor to do - the more closely your choice will be spot on.

I'm in Ellensburg now. Originally from Tri-cities, then lived in Seattle for 5 years, finally made my way back to the dry side for some much needed sunshine and a better pace of life.

Thanks for the tips, I'll start making a list of needs I have now, and will have in the foreseeable future.

OK - the list will be a good start. Then you could post your list here and we will all help you decide what you need. There are a thousand lifetimes of small tractor experiences here - no need to make costly or dangerous mistakes during this process. By the way - if you can't find Amber on your map - its 9 miles due SW of Cheney.

Welcome from another bit of the wet side. We are all really good at helping others spend their money buying tractors and associated attachments. We can also tell you what not to do while operating said tractor and attachments based on the " been there done that " school, just about everyone here has done something bone headed and if we were lucky just broken a bit of machinery rather than ourselves. As Oosik says, a wealth of experience with small tractors.
