Looking for help with my John Deer 2210 Tractor Driveshaft

Joseph, we're glad to have you join us, but what's the problem with your driveshaft?

I have a 2003 John Deer 2210 Sub Compact Tractor I purchased recently with approximately 260 HRS. It has a full steel Curtis Cab. I致e been reading about problems with the Driveshaft issues and trying to lubricate the U Joints. I致e tried ALL the YouTube recommendations without ANY success! The problem I have for instance with the front Joint is that the Zirk fitting is turned up and so close to the Driveshaft that I致e had 0 Success getting grease into the cups of the joint. I can稚 really get a wrench onto the Zirk to try to loosen it a bit to allow me to get grease into it. Grease everywhere but where it should go. I can move the ball of the Zirk so I know there seems to be nothing wrong with that. I THINK! The U joint that I致e inspected is the front one. It does seem perfectly fine for now. I haven稚 even attempted to look into the rear Joint yet. What if any other things might I try?? How much work is it to remove the Driveshaft from the Tractor?? Keep in mind I have the Curtis Cab. Is there a YouTube video explaining how this is accomplished? Whereas the U joints I知 sure are fine for now but I知 worried about in the future! WHAT THE HECK WERE THEY THINKING WHEN THEY DESIGNED THIS AWFUL WAY OF DOING THIS! Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated! Again. I believe I致e seen all the information so far! Is there an adapter other than the common ones that I might try. Thank you all!

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Unfortunately I can't remember the thread, but recently a member had a similar positioned grease nipple and other members posted about a 45degree 'zerk'.

Perhaps you could re-post or start another thread with your specific problem as this is the "New Member Introduction" Forum.

Enjoy the site.

Hi and welcome to the forum! :welcome:

I'm going to move this thread over to our John Deere section.

Welcome, Joe. I've a JD 2025R with similar issues. My JD 4010 (much like a 2019E, if one were made) front driveshaft Ujoint blew apart at 9 years and 660 hours. I let the 2025R go to 200 hours and then had the dealership pick it up to lube the Ujoints and to replace the PTO button (another recent issue with JDs). With the panel/cowling removed that covers the gauges down to the pedals to get at the PTO button, the techs could then remove the driveshaft to lube the Ujoints.

I had the same problem as you did with your front Ujoint zerk with the rear one. Just could not get a grease gun onto it and tried a couple of those needles, too. Can not really access the front one unless that panel/cowling that goes over the instruments is removed. Even then, you have to remove the shaft to allow the joints to be moved enough to get a grease gun onto the zerks.

I'll let mine go another 200 hours and then decide whether to have them do it again or trade for a Kubota B.

Ralph

Ok. Thanks for the help but what is involved and how do you remove the entire Driveshaft? I am pleased with the 2210 but am obviously worried about greasing the Driveshaft U Joints. Any help is very much appreciated. The tough thing in my case is I have a fully inclosed Curtis Cab! Really don稚 want to have to disassemble all of that! John Deer will want a fortune to remove that shaft! Thanks. Hopefully there is a video on how to remove the shaft.
