Tractor
JD 445 54" deck
Hi,

I've never own or driven a tractor. So, I'm totally out of my zone. I do have a JD 445 zero-turn mower. We live on about 9.5 acres. I would like to buy a tractor for general use like spreading dirt, gravel, mulch, etc. Maybe some roto-tilling, clearing light brush and some vegetable gardening. As you can tell, I'm not sure if I need a tractor. May just want a useful toy that can also be productive.

I don't know what size, horsepower or brand tractor that would be best. I have just started some research and I THINK I like the JD 3032E, 3038E or the 3320. But price will also influence my decision.

So, hello to all and I appreciate any help. I'm 62 and retired and love working in the yard.

The 3320 is the way to go. IMO. You will be glad you did.

Hang on to the 445, as it will serve you well along with the 3320.

Whatever brand you buy..I have a NH TC-29D with a front end loader that I use around my house an 4 acres and a bigger tractor for my farm.. If you go sit on a few different tractors around 30 HP ought to be enough, you will find the one that feels best for you and by all means get a front end loader...at our age it saves your back and makes chores fun.

Hello Rufus, and welcome to TBN! I had to look Powderly, Tx up on the map to find out where it was located. It looks like if you stumble and fall, you might end up in Oklahoma.;) My grandfather on my mother's side lived in Honey Grove for awhile, so I'm a bit familiar with the area. Northeast Texas sure is pretty in that area.

There are lots of us "youngsters" in our early 60s here. I just retired and started drawing Social Security last year, so you and I are about the same age. Hang out and read some of the forums and ask a few questions is the best advice I can give you. You will surely find plenty of work for a tractor on 9.5 acres. I don't think I could get along without mine.
