Good afternoon everyone!
My wife and I bought a house on 2.89 acres just East of Salem (South of Macleay) 2 months ago. We've spent time mowing grass and tending our indoor horse arena with our John Deere LA135 lawn tractor, but have known we were destined to buy a tractor at some point soon.
Yesterday was that day! We found, test-drove, and made a deal with a craigslist poster from my old neighborhood (I grew up in South Salem) for a 1977 Kubota L185DT. It's been shop or garage-kept its whole life, to the point that a lot of the original labels are completely intact! It runs and drives very well, has only 1 or 2 slow hydraulic leaks from one of the FEL valves, and it starts very smoothly. We're both incredibly excited, and I know that forums are the way to learn helpful tricks and meet awesome people for help or just BS-ing.
I also ride a 2015 Yamaha R3 sport bike and am an Industrial Engineer. Nerdiest. Small-Farmer. Ever. I like building tools, fixing broken things, construction, demolition, chemical reactions, periodic maintenance, and hope to someday upgrade my shop with a lift so I can complete more major vehicle repairs than recharging A/C and changing oil/bleeding brakes.
See you all around!
