Hello from upstate New York

Hi all,
I've been looking around TBN for a while and have learned a bunch. Finally ready to join. Along with a couple JD garden tractors I have a Kubota L3010 that I hayed with on a little 30 acre horse farm. No longer have horses so now spend time with kids and grandkids at the lake. Will be clearing some land overlooking the lake to build a house. I'm sure I'll find all the help I need right here.

Good for you, Cliff! We bought a 25-acre property on a lake in Ontario north of you, and have thought seriously about building a big cottage on it. But, we feel a bit old for that, and I see that you have kids and grandkids, so you must be getting on in years as well. You don’t feel intimidated by that?

Also, do you guys get a lot of snow where you are? I am always amazed by how much snow the Buffalo area gets, while we get very little in Toronto, just across the lake.

You are right check, you make some good points. Yes it's a little intimidating to build this late. We will likely use a turn-key modular builder to limit involvement in thousands of details. Kind of looking beyond the build and looking forward to peaceful times sitting on the deck enjoying the lake. I think we'll get less snow than we currently get on our hill top farm, which we will sell. My biggest dreads are parting with a lifetime of "treasures" (cannot believe how much there is) and moving farther away from family and friends. Good luck to you.
