JD 3120
Hello,

I am new to this site, and I must say a great site at that (made it my home page :D )!! We own 50 acres here in the mid-west, and plan to build in the next few years. With much debate, my wife and I decided to go with a tractor instead of a skid steer. With that said, our new JD 3120 should be ready any day!! After hours of forums reading, I have come up with many questions. Here are 2 that I would like to immediately address. 1. Tooth bar for 300CX- any suggestions? 2. Of the two 3 point quick hitches found at Harbor Freight, which one would better fit the 3120? Thank you in advance

Welcome! JD should make a tooth bar to fit your bucket. Make sure you get the heavy duty bucket to handle the stresses of digging. They also have a quick hitch which is more expensive then horrible freightone but also looks beefier. One of our customers got the $100 one and it is "working" for him but he had to weld reinforments along the top becase it cracked under the weight of the loaded ballast box. Good luck

1. I think the unanimous decision here will be Markham. Lots of people have had good experiences.

2. This is strange, HF #97214 is listed as "Inside clearance: 27-1/2"" and HF#93691 is listed as "Inside clearance: 26-1/2" ". I don't know what the story is with HF#97214 since 27-1/2" is too wide for a standard category 1 quick hitch, even though they list it as such. Also strange is that both have "Overall dimensions: 30" W x 24" H" which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. My guess is that they are essentially the same and just a different batch from a different factory. The inside measurement is probably just a typo.

I bought the JD toothbar, BW15227 for a 61" bucket, BW15228 for a 73" bucket. I'm very happy with it. It is very very heavy duty, almost more than I could lift. If you have a heavy duty bucket with a removable cutting edge you have to remove the cutting edge but most other add on tooth bars require that also.

Hi Matt,

The "Quick Hitch for easy attachment & release of 3 point implements" is a sorry description of the items you are looking at...

I have found with that fixed style you run into all kinds of clearance issues for PTO shafts... more difficulty accessing the PTO on the tractor... pin widths on implements which do not match those on the hitch... toplink heights which require adjustment (for "U" hook styles) with each implement... clearance issues on toplinks on some implements...

If you had the intention of going iMatch & buying all iMatch gear, well that's fine, and your spacings should be right on... but as good as JD/Frontier equipment is, there are almost always comparable or better brands out there--often at better pricing.

As good a deal as those cheapos are, and the eBay ones for $100 (same design), they are more difficult to "tune" than the 3 point hitch from implement to implement.

My advice would be to look at "Pat's Easy Change" or one of other arm mounted styles and avoid the rigid 3 pt quick hitch... you will be happier with that style in the long run... you even keep the floating option on your 3x20 lower links then.:)

Enjoy the tractor--they are a pleasure to operate!

Welcome to the Forum, we will expect to see some photos soon.

My wife and I also debated a lot, about which tractor color. We tried blue, orange then finally went to the green dealer. When she got talked into getting on the 3320 e-hydro and driving it around, she said "If you get this one, I'll pay for half". I'm sure that you will enjoy the 3120.
