Hello,
I joined TBN while shopping for purchasing my first tractor this fall. I guess it is my mid-life crisis! Good one to have. We have 6 acres of mountainside property covered by more than 600 trees. I've been maintaining the property the old fashioned wheelbarrow way. That's a nice workout, but have never quite been able to get the place looking like I wanted.
I grew up on a large dairy farm in Nebraska so I started driving tractors at age 8. I logged several hundred hours in the seats of Ford, John Deere, International Harvester and probably some others I can't remember before I left the farm life to pursue my professional calling off the farm. Life has come full circle and I found my self with some property to return to my agricultural roots but really using my tractor more for landscaping than farming. I want to add some terrace garden boxes for next spring, so I guess I'll get a little agriculture!
I purchased a new John Deere 2025R with JD's fantastic 72 month 0% interest program. I got the box blade, rotary cutter, loader and backhoe with thumb. I felt like I was really splurging with that all, but I do wish I had added a chipper as well. I had 70 trees fallen this past spring and have mounds of limbs that are thoroughly dried out and wouldn't take much of a spark to ignite! I could find good use for lots of fresh wood chips too.
