Hey. I live in Lehigh Acres, Florida and I own a Green 1977 Yanmar YM240 with Only 289 hours on it.
Low hours because it runs Only when want:laughing: . I put fresh fuel, bled the fuel filter, pump, injectors, put new battery. No luck. If I pull it with my truck it fires right up and runs all day with no problem. I just got too old for this. But I LOVE :cool2: the way it looks!

Have u used the "glow plug".?? {thermostart}
Just google/search> YM240 glow plug & go to the Hoye site..
They have a nice write-up on how to use it..

I used the glow plug and it won't start the same! I'm out of ideas. Anybody has one? It fires right up when pulled by my truck, but will NOT fire using the key. It sucks, because if I'm by myself, I can NOT use it. Thank you, Joe.

Joe.. that's an incomplete answer.. do u KNOW FOR CERTAIN that IT WORKS.??
Theres 1000 post about people using/activating they're burnt out glow plugs..
1 more thing.. The CRANKING SPEED has a lot to do w/ how fast it starts..
SURE u put in a new battery, but that doesn't tell us if its spinning over fast enough to start..

Yes, I even hooked up another battery. It has a New starter. It spins VERY fast when I released the compression. After I released and the compression is on, It just turns slower making chug;chug;chug noises, but will NOT start! If I pull it, it will start on the first relead of the clutch. Thank you, Joe.
