Keep getting these emails to say howdy--figured it couldn't hurt. Howdy y'all! :)

New to rural life--Central VA. Father-in-law figures we'll become gentlemen farmers with a modest 13 acres, mostly small pine with a few cleared patches. He bought a restored '61 Massey-Ferguson 35 Deluxe, Diesel and 3 implements of probably a similar vintage (four prong, uh, rake(?), a blade, and a brush-hog--the correct term I believe). Anyway, it's up to me to learn and do maintenance. Just wrenched and grinded off a bunch of rusty ol' bolts today holding the rake prongs together. Troubleshooting some dry rot Safemark tires that wouldn't surprise me if their original. Learned the rears (12.4-28, R-1) are ballasted with nearly the entire tire full of a water mixture. Turns out our tractor, as a result, is a VERY heavy machine, which begins to explain a few things when we picked it up for transport . . . probably best we didn't know that at the time. ;) Hey, but we're having fun--always wanted a tractor. Cool stuff!

Welcome to TBN!!!

There are both Massey-Ferguson and Vintage Tractor forums on TBN...I reckon you'll want to look at both.
And...definitely read the Safety forum!!!
