JD 2210
My name is John and I grew up in the Brome county NY Moved to NH. With that said I have a confession, I brought in my JD445 in for service today and walked out with a new 2210, 210 FEL, MMM, and a Tiller being delivered on Monday. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Ya! So what I’ve seen so far from this sight is… I need to do something about the lift arms set the tires to the wide (Valve stems out) and get a new seat and watch out for my lights on the ROP. Is that all? Wish I could do the BH but you know the budget…

No, you need to post pictures when it arrives. Oh, and try to keep from smiling too much, remember it's tractor work, not playing on the tractor.

Did you walk in with the intent to buy a tractor, or were you taken by surprise?

Welcome to TBN.

Oh I know it’s a tool, but it’s just like when we get a big new truck at the fire station you smile ear to ear. Not to mention buying the best also makes you smile.
Each time I walk in to John Deere I want to buy, and lucky enough this time I did. I think I’ll be happy although I did want a bigger one. I have 5 acres to take care of. most all lawn.

So, snorting those diesel fumes from the 2210s reminds you of cranking up the throttle on the pumper truck to 150PSI to set the relief valve......???
Besides having a bunch of fun on the 2210, sometime in the next 28 days park it in the garage and take a close look at the underside. Sounds like you're using it on flat, prepared ground, so you probably won't see anything you don't like.
I visited the dealership in Jan, and all the tractors had 3 feet of snow around them. When my 2210 came, the location of the hyd filter and cooling fan was a surprise. Tractor was slated to occasionally run in brushy areas with some deep frost heaves. Decided a 4110 was better suited for that job. . My fault for not being clear about the tractor's intended use. Dealership was happy to make the change however.
Good luck

No.

Welcome to the forum. It has been a wealth of valuable information for me.

Please post pic's when it shows up. Nothing like a clean and shiny brand new tractor to brighten one's whole outlook.

Not to put a damper on your enthusiasm but, the most valuable discussions on here are the ones in the "Safety" Discussion. It's amazing how fast something you might never think of can happen, and ruin all the fun. Have fun (I mean work hard...) and enjoy!

Congrats on the tractor!!! With all those toys, I mean tools, it sounds like turf and dirt better run for cover /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

BigJohn,

Congrats on your purchase. Did you get the 62C MMM? If so, I think you're going to love the cut. Make sure you get the ballast box and pay attention to ballasting issues with the FEL. I almost tipped my 2210 over with a full bucket (53") of topsoil and only a landscape rake on the back. After that I had the rear tires loaded, and when lifting anything heavy, use the ballast box which I have filled with concrete. Which tiller did you get?

Sounds like you're going to have lots of fun playing, I mean working, with your new toy, I mean machine! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Guys.
I have the smaller mower, It’s what was on the machine at the dealer. I have the 647 Tiller also the turf tires are loaded and the ballast box. One question on the ballast box do you just mix concrete and pour it in?
Now I have to find a place to rent a post hole digger for the 3pt hitch I have about 100 holes to dig
JDFANATIC would you recommend the snow blower over just using the FEL? I know the bucket on my 445 wasn’t that big and it took a long time to move the snow

Can you run a standard PHD on a 2210? I didn't think you could, isn't the three point a limited one? I run a PHD on my 4010. But, because I have the R-3 turfs on it my bit is just about two-three inches too long and I have to "back into" my holes a little. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BigJohn,

I have used the FEL to remove snow, I have used the blower (in my case that is a 46" single stage left over from my 425 days) and there is no comparison, the blower in ALL conditions outperforms the FEL. It does cost more. If you can swing it, it is worth every penny of it. Though the 54C is a good mower, my only question for you is will you be happy with the overlap and the edging ability vs the 62C. What I mean by this, is that no only does the overlap more correctly match the wheelbase of the 2210 and cause it to comfortably (in the subconscious mind's view) match your perspective, but it pushes the ROPS further away from the landscaping, effectively creating a more maneuverable machine. Email me if you want to discuss this in more detail. For the ballast box, I filled mine with post hole/mailbox mix; the kind you pour in dry and then add water. I figured the ballast box wasn't concerned with the tensile strength achieved. While I don't think this was a bad idea, I have had some spalling of the surface concrete after last winter's horrible effects. Also if you intend to go this route, use some duct tape to seal the inside seams -- otherwise you will be watching your weight drain out and your investment sagg as well! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
