Tractorless :(
I have a halogen shop light above where I'm welding and although it provides nice light, it sometimes activates my lens and it shines down inside my helmet from above. The back piece also stops the occasional spatter from coming in from above. Now it will skip my scalp and go down the back of my neck instead :). The visor will probably be in the way if I was welding above my head, but I don't anticipate doing any of that.

It's a Harbor Fright helmet, so I'm not drilling a Jackson or Speedglass.

This reminds me I need to put a leather flap on the bottom of my helmet, light keeps reflecting in... Looks good.

Flap on the top is not unusual. The Sun is always shining in causing bad refletions. Looks good.

I used to just put a rag over my head then put on the helmet to block backreflections. I didnt have the problem with light setting off the sensors (no AD helmet back then) so that is unique for me. I dont think I would make the neck guard permanent in my situation. It is going to make it very hot to weld in the summer.

I think this is great idea. It is also an example of the "law of unintended consequences." A few years ago no one worried about bright light setting off the sensors on a helmet.
