Kioti CK20
At about 100 hours of use my CK20 HST started leaking fluid from the front of the transmission. It looks to be the transmission drive motor or valves, located right between my feet when I'm sitting on the tractor. The fluid looks like it's coming from a plug on the bottom of the unit. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this leak stopped?

How about talking to a dealer? I presume you are out of warranty so either a Kioti or Bobcat dealer would work as would any independent tractor mechanic.

Thanks, I was just hoping that someone else might have been through this already...

Sounds like maybe the drain plug is a little loose. Try to tighten it by hand to see if it's loose. If so, grab a socket and tighten it up.

Yeah, I missed your description of it coming from near the plug. On the other hand, the plug is the lowest point on the transmission housing so even if it leaking elsewhere it will likely work it's way to the plug before it drips off. As Dmace noted though a quick turn with a wrench to insure the plug is tight would certainly be the simple and by far cheapest thing to do. You shouldn't need to turn it too tightly but it should clearly be snug. I don't recall if there is a gasket/ring on that plug and if there is supposed to be an it is missing that could also be the cause of a slow leak. Did you change the hydraulic fluid recently?

Here's the plug/cap in question. I have cleaned it off and watched it drip right around the threads.

I cannot recall if that drain bolt has a gasket. If so then perhaps it is either missing, torn or mispositioned. Unfortunately you will loose a bit of fluid to find out. Maybe Dmace who still has a CK20 can answer the question.

I presume you have already tried to tighten it and it continues to drip.

Well it might not be a good idea but... I drilled a 3/8" hole in the housing to gain access to the leaky 8mm plug, it took about a half of a turn to stop the leaking. I don't know if this is a permanent fix or not but only time will tell. Thanks for the suggestions if the tractor breaks in half from the hole I drilled I'm sure you guys will be called on again.
