Can anyone tell me why my 2 spool control valve (Gresen 2702) will not produce pressure from the 4th port which was plugged? When I added 2 way cylinders for down pressure to my loader I thought when I replaced the plug with a line to the return end of my new cylinders I would be fine. But even with no line or plug in the hole no fluid comes out when lever is pulled. Is it blocked internally somehow? Can a non pro restore it to working both spools both directions ? Trying to update my old 60"s international 444. Thanks.

You probably have a single action spool.

Look in the port and see if it is drilled out.

ok, thanks. my farm is 100 miles away and i just now, back home, saw this advice, so next weekend i will. you are saying that once i remove the plug i can look inside the port and tell if i have a single action spool? the hole may go nowhere, meaning the factory didn't drill out the port as it was not going to be used? thanks again for any help or advice.

2702 is only the casting number and applies to likely thousands of valve combinations. Go write down numbers off all the castings as well as their locations, and call Parker… they can probably tell you how each spool is set up. For a currently produced valve they definitely can, Parker bought Gresen though and I'm not sure how far back their info goes.

just like JJ said you have a 3 way spool and you need a 4 way. It was plugged because of the 3 way spool, chances are you will not be able to return through that port either. Good luck getting any info from Parker. Your valve is a SP series 2 spool and can be set up as many different configurations depending on what spools and port plugs that are in it. Again don't waste your time with Parker. You need to find a 4 way cyl spool for a SP series or replace the valve. CJ

As far as Gresen not very far. They only kept the V20 series and a couple of the Mono block series, I think the SP is being phased out also. The info is not the problem it is finding somebody that knows about it at Parker that is the problem. CJ
