MF2605
Hi everyone,

I'm Mac, I live in Alabama and need some help.
I recently bought a MF2605 tractor (3/15), I also bought a 6 foot SD bushog.

Yesterday for the first time I tried to clear a acre of weeds and berrybriars.
All was going good until I noticed that the bushog seem to be low in the front and sort of digging into the ground, not much but it noticeable. I read the manual on how to raisethe front of the bushog, but I am lost, I've always used a pull behind bushog where you just hook onto drawbar and raise the mower with a crank.

Now I came into the present and got this 3-point hitch tractor and I need help.
I have hope that you guys can get me up to speed with this machine.
The side of the bushog that seems to be digging in most is on the right side(thats setting in the seat)
also the right side arm has a piece with handles on it, I guess to turn(?)

Any help will be appreciated.
The dealer could have someone come down in a couple of weeks, he says it their busy season now.

Thanks

Mac

Jeff9366, so you're saying to adjust the right side of mower to get it up a bit is to, turn that thing with the two grips on it? Which ever way to shorten the lenght, which will raise the right side of the mower???

I hope I understand it right. The rod in the middle I donot need to bother at all, correct?

Mac

What jeff said, you need to set the desired position control height then adjust the top link, side link and tail wheel. You can download a manual from Land Pride or elsewhere to walk you through it.

Jeff is right on the right side adjustment.

Jeff is totally wrong on the top link adjustment.

As Larry (TripleR) suggests the front edge cutting height is adjusted by the setting of the 3pt arms. Your tractor should have an adjustable stopper that will limit how far down the 3pt lever can be positioned. To set the cutter slowly lower the 3pt lever until the front edge is setting at whatever height you desire. Then move the stopper up until it contacts the 3pt lever. What this creates is a constant "lowered" height of the 3pt.

The top link should be lengthened/shortened until the cutter can "float" along without lifting the tail wheel every time the rear tires of the tractor go over a hump. If the top link is adjusted to0 short you will often be raising the tail wheel off the ground as the tractor changes position. If the top link is adjusted too long you will not be able to lift the tail wheel off the ground appropriately when the 3pt is fully raised. I like the flexible top linkage of the cutter to be in the middle of it's floating position when sitting on flat ground with the cutter lowered in cutting position.

I just searched my pictures trying to find a good one of the 3pt lever "stopper" on either the Kubota or the Ford, but I don't have any, and neither tractor is here in the shop. If needed I'll try to get a picture later and post it.

So, understand, there are 3 things going on. The Tail Wheel position determines the cutting height of the rear of the cutter. The 3pt arm position determines the cutting height of the front of the cutter. The Top Link position (length) determines how much "float" the cutter is capable of AND the height the rear tail wheel can be lifted off the ground when the 3pt is fully raised.

You'll figure it out. When you see a problem, experiment with adjustments until you correct it. Enjoy. :)

The Rod in the middle (Top Link) should be loose enough that the rotary mower does not lift up going over uneven terrain. Not familiar with your tractor but I do one extra step which is to lock the 3PTH once I am happy with the height by means of a knob I can twist on my tractor (Kubota) as the 3PTH tends to drift down after an hour or two.
