Help buying a MF135

I've been looking for a MF135. I found one that need advice on. It's been in a shed for over 5 years and can't be run now. It needs a battery, gas tank clean out, and some TLC. It doesn't look to bad. The seller is asking $2800 for it as is. Should I even consider it since I can't run it to check it? How would I check it without running it?

Welcome! Its always better to have one running I feel. Awful hard to judge without seeing it. If you can take someone with you who knows how to evaluate them is what I would do. Seems high to me for not running, to many unknowns. Anything go with it? Its gambling for sure but you could be getting a deal. Good luck.

I think that $2800 is high for it not running. I know a guy that bought a 135 diesel a couple of years ago for $3100, that may have even been a little high for it. I am assuming that it is a gas motor since you said gas tank? Like you said it will need a battery and the gas tank cleaned plus a tune up, it should have all of the fluids changed, probably hoses and a belt but you won't know if then engine is any good til you can get it running, or the hydraulic system. You could be buying a good tractor or a money pit. I believe I would look for something else unless he dropped the price drastically. There is usually a reason why someone will sell something not running, it usually needs major work.

I agree... I don't buy non runners unless they are 500$ or less.

if the seller thinks they have a 2800$ machine.. then they can go buy swap the battery out of their truck for a test and rig up a small fuel tank and prove it.. or just buy the 100$ battery and cleanthe tank for a few bucks...
