HI,

Does any one know where (other than the dealer) to get a lift cylinder for the BX quick hitch. Mine is leaking and the dealer ordered me a new seal kit but it is not right. The dealer wants 430.00 for a replacement cylinder. I was hoping someone out there may have found a more reasonable replacement. Or if anyone knows the bore, stroke, pin size, and cylinder size open and closed that may also help me in finding a replacement. Mine is at the dealer and they are being uncooperative after I requested a refund for the 90.00 seal kit that they sold me that is wrong.

Jim

I can take some measurements of mine tomorrow, though it's not hooked up so getting the extend and retract lengths might be difficult. But, once you have the measurements, I'd peruse the Surplus Center - Hydraulics, Engines, Electrical and More site for a like sized cylinder and with the same rod and cylinder ends. How old is your QH that it's already leaking at the cylinder?

Here's a start - the rod is 1" and the cylinder looks to be 2.25". Retracted length pin to pin center is 12.25". Measurements taken at night with a flash light so I'm gonna have to say these are approximate. Should get you started on narrowing down your cylinder choices until you get the extended length dimensions (and a confirmation of my measurements).

the parts manual says the piston is 2" bore x 5"stroke. it is the same piston that is on the hydraulic angling kit for the plow and the sweeper. the seal kit # is 70001-00872 and is about $40.00 from Messick's just got one for the plow have not installed it yet.

Thanks capebota, the part number you gave is different from the one on my receipt. I will try messick's and worry about my dealers mess up later. Chris any measurements you can get me would be great

Thanks everyone, hopefully that part number will get me the right seal kit. Chris my QH was bought from a TBN member who lives nearby. It was brand new. Everything was still crated or wrapped. He bought it in the off season and was forced to sell his tractor, so I bought his blower to help him out. I sent him a message to see if he still has the original receipt. If so we'll try to make the dealer make good if this doesn't work but I would rather not give him any headaches if I can avoid it

Maybe a new seal kit is the what to go (the right one, that is) or take the cylinder to a hydraulic shop. I perused the Surplus Center site and Bailey's and didn't see any 2" cylinders with a retracted length of under 14+" (maybe my 12.25" dimension needs to be checked again :confused2:). The retracted length will determine how high the blower lifts. A little extra stroke wouldn't matter I would think. Hopefully, you can get the dealer to make good on the wrong seal kit and get you the right one.

did you check the fitttings on the piston the ones on my new sweeper started to leak after i used it a couple of times and had to tighten them. if the bottom hose on the quick hitch piston is weaping it might look like the seal.

No it was definitely the seal. After several calls to the dealer he call kubota and there is. Serial number cut off. Different cylinders use different seals. Well that's the story he gave me. The number capebota gave me matched the number in my manual but the dealer said its not for the seal kit it was for the pins to hold it in place. We will see tomorrow when it comes in

keyman i have the seal kit in front of me and that is the part number on the kubota package i just got. dont think the parts man knows how to read the book. are you dealing with rf morse in wareham they are the nearest dealer to me and i will not go there...the 3/4 x 2 1/2 pin that holds the piston has number 70001-00795 and the cotter pin for is o/L. i got the quick hitch back in 08' and i just got a swepper and they have the same part numbers for the pistons and seal kits. i guess you will see tomorrow what they got.:confused2:
