Help! Cranks but won't fire ...

My 2555 cab hst was running about an hour doing box blade work on driveway. No hiccups. When I should it off, about 10 min later when I tried to restart, it just cranked and cranked. After a solid 20 seconds of crank time, it started to fire. I got it up to speed but as soon as I dropped it to idle, the engine stalled out and now won't fire at all.

I pulled the fuel can with the sensor at the bottom and it was full of clean fuel.

Any ideas? This has never happened before.

Here's an update...

After changing the fuel filter, and countless minutes of cranking (20 seconds on, 10 off, repeat), it FINALLY fired. But, it shook like it was only running on half the cylinders. And, despite the throttle being at idle, the RPM quickly ran up and past 2300. I turned off the key, which fortunately shut everything down. I restarted, and the same thing happened.

I called the dealer, and they were perplexed. Told me "Do not start it again - or you may destroy your engine". That sold me... I was officially in over my head. The next day, dealer came to haul it to the shop.

They've had it a week, and just today got it indoors. They said they think it is injector related (cha-ching) but will know more tomorrow.

They should be able to pin-point it when they hook it up to the computer. Possibly the crank/cam sensor or the ECM itself also check inside the wire loom to the ECM for a shorted wire.

I received another call from the service manager. He said it looks like an injector is stuck open. He said because the fuel delivery system ties into the emission controls, it may be covered under the emissions warranty. If that's really the case, I think I'm going to stop to buy a lottery ticket on the way to the dealer.
