Have a Zero turn 2011 cub cadet mower. So my son in law tried to cut my grass and he says he was pushing sticks back for reverse and it died. The main PTO belt was fried and jumped off the pulley. I replaced the belt. I have replaced the battery and still nothing. the pto button when pushed up and down used to make a clicking noise when it was engage/disengage now nothing. Why would it not start???

Any help would be appreciated/
Nath

Check to make sure all wires are plugged in or connected especially the PTO. Also if the PTO switch is stuck in the on position it will not start.

For pushing sticks you may want to add a FEL. (just kidding)

Hey Don, Thanks for the reply.
That is exactly what it acts like!!! Like the PTO is stuck in the on position. How do I fix this??? new switch or new PTO?? Is there a way to test, like unplug the PTO at the Clutch/Pulley??? or something else? He is a big rascal :D.. can I unplug the seat saftey and use a jumper wire to dissable?? When i checked that Safety switch under seat attached to the bottom, it pushes up into the seat. Can I disable this?

Thanks
Nath

Nath, I have had a a JD, Craftsman and a Hustler zero turn so I only know the general areas of concern for your Cub Cadet. The fact that he was "pushing sticks" would make me look at the wire that goes from the PTO by the transmission to the switch on top. Check to see if either end came loose - if it got caught on a stick. I'm not sure how the seat safety works on a Cub so I don't want to give you wrong advice. It is a possibility the PTO (blade) switch is bad and that is a part, if like a JD, is easily replaceable for under $30. be careful when working under a raised ZTR, we had a member here die when his fell on him. Maybe someone who has a Cub will chime in also.

Checking the PTO switch: If you have a volt meter check for power going from the PTO switch to the clutch.

If it just died when the belt came off look for wires or switches that could have been damaged by the belt.
