Sorry for the long thread. I have been meaning to get a grasp on all this for a while but have not had time to take the photo's, upload them and ask all the questions.

First. Is this a remote hydraulic? I am pretty sure it runs off the front mounted pump and used the fluid in the reservoir for the loader. the black knob is not spring loaded and seems "tight" when the tractor is running, but loose when its not, so I assume its under pressure. If that's the high pressure line, then is the "plug" in the other picture the return? If so could I set this up w/ quick connects so I can run a log splitter off of it? I am sure it has a higher flow rate and higher pressure than what I could get off the 3 pt hydraulic pumps remote. (see other questions)

the knob you can see a female quick connect hanging off it that I believe is turned on and off w/ the black knob

and the plug that I think is the return

the pump that I am pretty sure will do a better job than the 3pt pump

Next question. With this loader, regardless of the "remote" How do I check the fluid? Its a ford 340 loader I believe and the resevior is a part of the frame itself. I didn't see any plugs to check with, and I didn't see how either side would be connected together for the return. I didn't see a filter either, but I am sure their has to be one. Here are a couple of photos. on the left side there appears to be a air breather cap, but I am unsure if that's the fill point, and if it is how to check the fluid level.

Any idea what sort of GPM or PSI the front mounted pump would be putting out? Would this be better to use than the 3 pt remotes (ill include a picture of that, but I am going to start another thread about them.)

This valve in your 1st photo is a selector valve. It just routes oil to one or the other of 2 hyd functions and you're correct it does control whether the female breakaway coupler has pressure or not. I think FEL fluid check level will be on RH FEL mast(frame). Frt pump should have more flow than tractor hyd pump.

Where on the RH FEL mast would it be located? Will it be a plug that I just add fluid (where do I add it the bleeder?) until it run out, or should it have a dipstick of some sort?

After giving this some thought I think the check plug should be on the same mast as the breather.

So it should be full all the way to the top? YIKES

No ... there has to be room for oil when all the cylinders are retracted. Check the level when the loader is in such a condition. That'll be the maximum oil level return.
