I know somebody has a formula/rule of thumb for this. What does a rotary cutter sticking out beyond the 3PH seven (7) feet and weighing 1200 lbs equate to in a ballast box right at the end of your 3PH? Its a matter of leverage vs gross weight.

Excellent! I just knew somebody had figured a formula. You may have used Excel but its your formulas and calcs that are plugged in. Thank you.

Yes is a sum of moments formula. I just use excel to make pretty pictures and crunch lots of numbers fast. Lol

Well, with your formulas it comes out to around 2250 lbs - which is about what I thought it should be. Now to convert that much weight into a size for a ballast box (the easy part).

15 cu-ft of concrete should hit the nail on the head.

I assume your tractor is Cat II, So a 32" wide, 32" high box and 24" length. That will get you about 120 lbs shy of your mark. But you will likely use 120lbs of steel for the box, pins, etc.

Thank you. Yes, the tractor is Cat 11 - all the attachments, so far, have sleeved pins. I going to be using a spin-off of the design from Hilltop Hillbilly. I really don't need a place to carry tools, chains etc. I have the FEL on the tractor all the time. Got a friend(thank goodness for friends) who will weld this thing up and only charge for the materials. He owns a welding shop. I have a welder but my welds - at times - look more like a pigeon passed my way and this is not something I want falling apart. When this monstrosity is completed I will have pics.
