HI, we have a JD disel, don't think previous owners changed the fuel filter in years. We changed the filter it had black dirt looking stuff in it, the line comming from it was clogged we cleaned it and it ran good for a little while but everything clogged up again. Do we need to clean out the tank, or what and what additives will help?? Any help would be greatly appericated. God Bless:confused:

Welcome to the forum.

Try to decipher where the "black dirt" is coming from. Maybe remove the fitting at the tank, and flush it out with fuel oil. Or maybe an air hose with a pipe to reach in there and stir it up real good, and let it flush out the exit hole.
Some more history of the tank and diesel fuel would help some.
Don't know of any additives.

Could that black stuff possibly be bacteria?:D

Aaahh... you big ol' smarty pants!! :D

Flush and flush again. And get a bio-cide fuel conditioner additive. There's a number of them on the market - and many recommendations here on TBN regarding favorite brands.

Best of luck.

It could also be the inside of the hoses deteriorating...but the bacteria is a great guess also.
