I have an early Rockland Quick Coupler on my 1979 Hough H80B Pay Loader.

Sadly, the hydraulic cylinder must have failed at some point in the quick coupler and the hydraulic cylinder was removed and a wooden block put in the cylinder's place to keep the pins in.

Unfortunately, Rockland knows nothing about the coupler, what pattern it is (CAT, Deere, Komatsu, et cetra), or any parts used in it.

To my eye, the Rockland coupler uses a fixed in place, double-acting, twin-piston RAM like what is in the photo below but for the life of me, I cannot find a generic version because of my inability to describe the type of cylinder accurately.

My question is this: what is the generic shorthand or description of the same type of cylinder used in the quick coupler below?

Thanks for any and all help!

That looks to be a custom cylinder for that application, possibly made in house? by the company that makes the coupler.

If you can't find the exact cylinder that you're looking for, you could also just buy to short standard cylinders and weld them back to back to achieve the same effect.

I did found this Chinese supplier, not sure if it helps any. OEM Double Acting Hydraulic Cylinder Chromed Piston Rod for Tractor

Another option would be to remove the bolt and pins that are there now and use a long rod the same diameter as the pins that would slide through from one side.

Thank you for finding this. I sent the company an inquiry.

I cannot afford to pay for a custom cylinder for an old payloader. I have entertained taking two short cylinders and welding them together but I am trying to avoid the hydraulic plumbing nightmare of trying to make hardlines for it without a real hydraulic jobber shop in my area (the closest ones I can think of are 240 miles away).

I think what I'm going to do is re-reach out to Rockland and ask if they still make a quick couple with a cylinder like I'm looking for and then find out if I can order a right-sized one. I will try the same with the dymax co you linked me to as well.

I will report my findings. Thanks, everybody.

Makes we wonder if that type of cylinder could be used to power the latching mechanism(s) on a SSQA.
