Impossible to say without some more information. Did you buy the material from an awning kit company? If so, they should be able to provide you with assembly instructions. If not, then how did you go about getting the material and what did you have in mind in terms of construction?

Re: Help ID\'in some Purlin

My Grandpa left me this stuff because he knew I need to build a carport and a patio cover. So I hauled it out here to my place and I'm trying to figure out the best way to use it.

A lot of R panel and poles

probably 15 or more 6" C purlins. 20' I think. Now I know how to use the C Purlins and I'm going to build the carport 16x20 with it. Also the patio cover about the same size. That will use up most of the C purlin

Whats left is a bunch of other pieces like 4" channels.(20')
I'm not sure what the channels are used for. I'd like to build an awning for my barn. I've got 3 stalls all on one side and could take the channel and construct and awning either free standing on four poles or attached to the barn. If could make a rectangle frame with several cross members. Again I wanted to know what this type is typically used for.

I also have dozens of what I call angle pieces. One is 4" x 4" angle 20' long. The other is 2" x 4" angle 20' long.

and last is the Z. I've know what these are for and I don't think I'll need them.

Well it looks like I found my answer. At least part of it. I looked at Wroughtn Harv post about is purlin connectors and I I see now what the 4" channels are for. Just so happens I need to construct a small building too so they will come in handy.

It looks like you got yourself some treasure there.

And that barn we're building is in Josephine off of 1778 on CR644, can't miss it.
