HI there

I've got a 1952 TED20 TVO fergie, but it wont start, I've had a new Battary, Distributor Cap, Spark Plugs, and Leads, and there is no spark at the plug, it turns over, & over & over OK.
so as it turns over ok I can take it the starter motor is OK. have set the Gap's with the gauge to the settings set out in the massey furguson workshop manual.

My fergie has to stand outside in all wethers hav'nt got a shed for it, that possibly does'nt help.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

First have you pulled a plug out and stick it in the plugwire then crank over engine while holding plug against block to check for blue spark. You must be insulated against voltage saturation or you will have too stop to change your pants /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif If no spark read on:

Well it sounds like you may have frozen points or a bad coil,
Pull the coil wire off of the coil ,take distributor cap off and check points to see if there frozen(welded together) turn engine to get points on the distibutor lobe check gap (approx..019)can be adjusted by two screws holding points in place also see if there burned and replace points & condensor if neccessary(condensor is cylindrical capacitor with wire connected to points.)

Also could be the coil itself. check wiring to coil & distributor make sure you have good grounds and voltages on all connections... Good luck! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for the advice will give it a go, I,ll try to insulate myself /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's decided to freeze and snow here now so I'll wait till thats cleared, but thanks again.
