John Deere 3120
Hello I am new to the forums, just found them today in fact. I searched for a solution, without success, prior to joining.

I have had an issue where my tractor (2005 John Deere 3120 small utility) will not engage into gear. The engine starts well, the hydraulics work but it will not go forward or reverse.

The “exclamation light”(assuming that’s the warning light) with the lines around it is lit up but then eventually goes out like there isn’t a problem.

I changed the hydraulic fluid and filter and it was quite dirty. Is there a secondary screen past the filter housing that could be plugged and create this condition?

Could there be an electrical component (sending unit, etc) that can go bad and create a condition like stated above? Possibly a bad parking brake or seat sensor?

To my knowledge the tractor was fine and just stopped working. I would have thought for a transmission to go out there should have been some grinding or slipping or something prior to failure.

I want to check/eliminate the possible electrical problems before I take it apart and hunt for a mechanical problem.

Thanks for viewing, any advice is greatly appreciated.
