Started making a grinding sound In 4 wheel drive and I noticed the plastic cover on the pinion wher drive shaft goes in is leaking because one of the bolts fell out , how hard is it to pull the front axle because I know it probably going todays to be rebuilt, any help is greatly appreciated I'll get some pics up later today when I got more time to look at it, it's a 2013 model

First, I'd get the service technical manual and run down the recommended repair, if you don't already have that document.

A bit confused from your explanation, but pics may help out.

Here is a pic of the front were it was leaking, I've removes the cover already in the pic, there is a bearing in the housing behind the nut, and it's gone , I can move the shaft with the up and down and in and out about a 1/4 inch, I'm assuming that's the end of the pinion gear for the front diff, so I'm thinking the ring and pinion are probably junk also I will have to tear into it tonight and see what I find,

The drive pinion shaft can be removed by tapping out the pin in coupling then slide toward middle of shaft.
Now book says total ring pinion is replaced as one unit.
remove axle shafts after lifting front end and disconnecting hydraulic steering parts.

Sounds expensive how many hours and type oil in axle housing ?

Well I stopped at the John Deere dealer that I bought it from and was talking to the salesman I bought it from about it and we looked it up and it's covered under the 3 yr power train warranty, so at least I'm not going to have to pay for it. I didnt realize I was still under warranty I thought it expired back in the spring but that was the general bumper to bumper warranty

The same oil was in there for 1000 hours?

No it's been changed at the recommended service intervals I meant I used what the manufacturer recommended ,I think it was low vis hygaurd of the top of my head I'd have to look at my owners manual

I glanced at the operators manual, and didn't see any time (hours) that changing the axle oil was recommended. Maybe missed it.
If there is a recommendation, I'm interested as my 4300 hasn't had a change and is around 1000 hours.
I did see where the front axle thrust bolt was to be adjusted, and am going to check that today.
