OK, so I've read a lot about the Yanmar tractors and have decided that they are at least worth a look and a test drive in person. Does anybody in Iowa sell Yanmars? How about in the Midwest? Around 90% of Midwest dealers that others have mentioned in previous threads are either no longer in business or have changed their contact information since posted. I live in the Des Moines, IA area and would be willing to travel to any one of the surrounding states to get the most reputable dealer and best price, so please start throwing out some dealer names for me and any positive or negative experience you or someone you know have had with them.

I keep coming up empty handed with my Internet searches too.

Thank you, Jason

:welcome:
Where in IA are you?

Am wondering why you would want to buy a brand of tractor that doesn't have a dealership close by where you live. And "no longer in business" should be a warning sign (at least it would be to me :) ).

Try Len Scheaffer. He is probably the closest dealer to you. Google him with Yanmar and he will pop up. Or just wait a while and he will probably respond to this post.

beenthere,
Thanks for the welcome. I'm in the Des Moines, IA area. The fact that I'm unable to locate a dealer close to me doesn't mean that it's an inferior product. I feel that I've done adequate research to determine that Yanmar is a better than average product with the lowest price point on the market, (price, reliability, durability, longevity, etc.). That's a good buy in my book, no matter where the nearest dealer is. I'm handy and can fix just about anything, so as long as I can order parts, I'll be good to go if most anything were to break. A couple of years ago I was in the market for a compact car. I looked at all of the high-end makes available in my area, found what I liked and didn't like in them and then went out and bought a Kia Spectra5. It wasn't that I couldn't afford the others; it was because I'm a smart shopper. The Kia wasn't far off from any of the others at a fraction of the cost and don't care what people may think about me because of the products that I own. John Deere, Case, Kubota and others may make super tractors, (some with Yanmar components), but in the end, they're just tractors. If I can buy one that works nearly as or as good as them at a fraction of the cost, in the end, I've got a good tractor that I'm going to use as intended and money left over to boot. That's a Win/Win in my book, no matter where the nearest dealer may be located.

Kays Supply,
I sent an Email to Schaeffer痴 Sales Department yesterday and it bounced back due to a full mailbox. I fired it off again to the Parts Department and the Email provided on their Main Web Page and neither one of them bounced back. So, I hope to hear something back from them next week sometime. Thanks for the suggestion.

I agree guys, if you know how to pick a good machine, it doesn't matter who you buy it from.

We are of the same mind. I have a Kia Sorento with 90,000 plus miles. It has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. And that is quite a few. All I have spent on it other than maintenance, is for a horn and a windshield washer pump.

I would have to agree also. When I was shopping for a compact tractor and doing some research and finding out that the YM2000 was also. sold by John Deere as the YM240. Also made by Yanmar for alot less money with the only difference was the PTO. and the Throttle. That was all I needed to know and was out and bought it the next day. I use a JD. thats only a few years old regularly and it has already had some Warrenty motor work done.
At only 90 Hrs.:ashamed:
It gives me more respect for My Yanmar considering it's 30+ yrs. old and I have had only miner mechanical problems with it. Nothing that kept me from using it or wasn't able to correct it at home. The worst case was spcial order parts done by 2 day mail order.

I looked in and around NC for 3-4 months and found a great dealer in WI. Buy from Halopka Equipment, LLC in WI ...straight forward people they buy "A" grade tractors from Japan. Got a good price on the tractor and they arranged having it shipped to me here in NC.
