I did some horse trading back in the 1990's when the assault weapons ban was threatening. A key player in a four way trade "required" a mini-14 as his part of the deal. He knew I had some, and wanted one. The guy with the need for that stuff was told to "find" a mini-14 and of course none were available at any price. To keep the deal from failing, I told them I would sell them one, but only if they couldn't find one elsewhere, and that it wouldn't be cheap. I finally sold them one for $750, used. When the ban went away, I replaced it with a stainless with a factory folder, which I keep as spare parts for a AC-556.
