LS 4150HC
So I've been going back/forth for a while now and have my tractor choices narrowed down to the final 2(4 actually). A LS xr4145hc, xr4150hc or Kioti nx4510hc or 5010hc. I'm more than likely going with a 50hp but what I can't decide on is which 50hp tractor. I'm getting tractor, loader, backhoe, and a few minor cab options. The kioti deal has given me his bottom dollar once he found out I was looking at LS. For a nx5010hc w/backhoe 12" bucket, 3rd function, 2 rear remotes, bh pads he's at $41,400 and that's as low as he can go. The LS dealer for the 4150hc, backhoe(not sure if his price included a bucket), loader, comes with 2 rear remotes, and wr long 3rd function installed is at $36,600, that was just his first price he gave me and we haven't talked about any offer or anything so I may be able to get another 1-2k lower "possibly". LS dealer is about 15 min away(also a NH dealer 15min the other way in case I can use any NH parts), kioti dealer is just over an hour away. Both dealers have been around for a long time, the kioti dealer has been selling kioti's for about 15 years I think. The LS dealer while being around for like 50 years has only been selling LS for just over a year(they've also been selling mahindra for 15 or so years). I like both dealers and the distance of the kioti dealer isn't to much of a concern.

Here is where I'm hung up though. Obviously the LS is cheaper and has a longer warranty. What I like about the kioti is the loader lifts higher and I do like the ergonomics of the cab layout with the pto switch and throttle being on the right side, it also has auto pto. The LS I like the instrument panel better and the seat has 2 armrests vs 1 in the Kioti. But the loader doesn't lift as high by a little over a foot. The pto switch is also to the right of the steering wheel along with the throttle which is common on a lot but not as ergonomically nice as the kioti, and no auto pto. The BH capabilties on the LS isn't as good as the kioti either. The LS is a little smaller in dimensions which I do like for being in the woods and stuff. The biggest thing that is holding me back is the loader lift height on the LS, if that was higher I would already have signed the paper work.

About what I'll be doing. I have just over 13 acres with about 1.5 acres cleared(maybe to much tractor but the deere and kubota 30hp range cab tractors w/bh where more than these two 50hp which is why I'm at a 50hp, spending less and getting more). I'm building a house on it as we speak, just about to be under roof this week. So I do have a lot of cleanup for that, landscaping and yard that will need to go in. Clearing maybe another half acre or so over the next year or two, maybe even putting in a small 1/6 acre pond and some basic clean up, grass cutting(when grass is there on the 1.5 acre portion) and maintaining of the 13 acres. The wooded part of it is pretty thick with a lot of pines on about 7 acres worth of it. Easy to push down because they are so thick in quantity/close together and not big roots but still a lot of them.

So there is my situation, I keep going back to the loader height of the LS though. As I stated if it had a max height of what the most other 40-50hp tractors have I would already be buying. The ergonomics of the kioti is also something I like and it's probably the 2nd reason why I haven't pulled the trigger yet completely on the LS. Right now it's about a 5k difference and the only thing I can't decide on is how to tackle the loader and ergo situation. I guess with the LS I can always build a dirt ramp or something if needed when loading into a dumpster or small dump truck. Here is a thread showing the height difference, post #26 http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...-xr4040c-owners-3.html?highlight=any+xr+3037c the user mentions a longer loader lift cylinder which I wonder if that can be done without messing up anything that could be in the way. But the does seem like the overall length loader is shorter compared to the one in the pic.

Thanks

Brian

From what I have read & experienced LS & Kioti both make very nice tractors. My experience is from owning 2 Kioti tractors one open station one Cab model. Both have operated flawless.I am sure both LS & Kioti would serve you well.

How often will you be needing a dump truck to load into? With the money saved by getting the LS you could get a dump trailer and not have to worry about lift height.

Exactly my initial thoughts.

Maybe look at some other comparisons?

How does the subframe for BH FEL compare between the two in attachment, ground clearance, removal etc.
Welds and machining
Routing of hoses and type/placement of hydraulic controls
Access for general maintenance

Good luck on purchase decision, but once delivered...happy day

That's a hard choice. They are both good tractors. Some other members have mentions the lower lift height of the LS vs. the Kioti also. One of them ended up with a Massey. That was how he solved his dilemma. You just have to figure out what is more important to you. Good luck with it.

A higher loader is nice, but like these guys said, how often will you be loading a dump truck? I can't speak for the other pros and cons, but I will say that the auto-PTO shouldn't be much of a big deal. Honestly, I am very glad that my tractor doesn't have that feature. Under NO circumstances do I want my PTO coming on automatically! The lever is easy to reach. When I want it on, I'll turn it on.

I agree, all these automatic things are nice when-if you do this stuff all day every day, but for the occasional user, just seems better to know for sure when & what is going and if it's automatic then that goes away. I will say that I think that there is a choice of either auto or manual settings though.

One last thing, depending on if you need-want other implements, but the savings that could be had getting the LS would get you there much faster. A tough decision that's for sure.

Good luck to the OP. ;)

I have never used the Auto PTO setting on my Kioti. The point of it is that when you are running a tiller and come to the end of a row and lift the 3pt lever to make your turn the PTO shuts off. And when you drop the 3pt to lower the tiller, the PTO turns back on again. I don't have a tiller so the feature has been useless to me. It is nothing more than a micro switch set to be hit by the 3pt lift lever. You could add Auto PTO to your LS with a little work and wiring. It is no big deal to add it to any electrically engaged PTO.

How high is a dumpster?
How often would you need to load a dump truck?
How high would any dump truck you might possibly purchase be?
How high would a dump trailer that you would use the savings to buy be?
Could you use the dump trailer to also haul the tractor if you wanted to?
Would it be affective using a high dump truck to haul the tractor?
Do you realize how much more cost effective it is to have a dump trailer opposed to a dump truck for most home use?
How often would you actually be loading a dump truck that you would find to be too high?
Have you actually measured the height of any smaller dump trucks?

As far as the AUTO - PTO is concerned its a feature I will probably never use and couldn't be concerned if it was there or not (over 2years with mine now and still haven't used it once). Its also a feature I never needed or wished I had on any of my other machines

PTO Switch placement isn't really a factor for me and I honestly cant see the placement of a simple on off switch being important unless it was somehow in a place where it could be easy to bump it accidentally For most I would assume it isn't a switch that is used nearly as hard as the loader joystick or a gearshift and would not even consider having to reach up to turn it on or off as a concern. Type and placement of other things would take my attention much more and the placement of the PTO switch would be last on my list if it was even a consideration at all.
