I have posted this and gotten NO HITS in other forums, this is my last shot!!! Do you know anything about this? I paid 100 dollars for it, and it needs to be attached to a cultivator to work. I don't have a cultivator.

Mind if I ask what kind of 'clamp assembly' it has. I know of two or three styles that were used. One was a square tool bar (set up on the corners). This was available in different sizes (well, at least for IH.....). Then there was an odd ball T shaped type clamp/bar.

I'm guessing that what you call a cultivator is what we call a tool bar assembly. When you plant, you put on the planters and if you need to cultivate, you take the planter off and put on shanks w/ S tines or sweeps.

Mine has angle iron spaced about 8 inches apart, and about 15 inches long. They have four holes going through them. I think they bolt to a cultivator, and that it is set up to bolt many of them side by side.

I wish I was good with pics - I have sandblasted it and painted it with JD Green paint!!! it is beautiful!

i just purchased a john deere 2 row set up on a tool bar, one of them is a 23r and the other is a 23c, but they are identicle planters. I'm also having trouble finding info on these planters.

Here is a JD parts manual for the 23c. Don't think you would have to have the cultivator on the bar fro the planter to work.

I see this url did not take you directly to the 23 planter. 1st hit the equipment button and put in planter. Then put in 23 and it should take you to the parts manual. Looks like that planter was made in a lot of configurations. Mid mount may be the one you have with the angle irons.

Does it have the 3 point hitch fixtures on the angle iron? Shoe or double disc openers?

I would think the if the planter has no 3 point it would be very easy to fabricate or find one that would work.

It appears the planter uses the same "open" plates as the following models. They are readily available on E-Bay as well as Lincoln Ag.
