Case 1845 C Skid steer
It hangs around the phoenix, Az. area and the owner of the home is curious as to what kind it is. I'm thinking in the conure or a parrotlet family.
Thanks
Jim

They may be called parakeets here, I don't know, but in the UK they are called budgrigars or budgies for short. I think they are native to Australia and can be found in most pet stores. They come in yellow/green, as in this case or blue/white or white. Usually they don't last too long in the wild as native birds tend to gang up on them and kill them for some reason. At least that is what used to happen in the UK.

BY NO MEANS AM I AN EXPERT BUT I'll add a little verse to this little love bird story! My understanding that DOWN around Miami, Fla. & in the Rio Grande Valley of TEXAS these tropical/sub tropical type birds survive well & even multipy to the point that they are a nunisance.. Several years ago I read a mag article about them grouping up & raiding bac yard gardens, etc... As far a IDing them, I'd think it was a love bird too! Parrot/Parakeet family that were/are escapee or decendence of such that manage to find safe warm place to reproduce & live...

It looks like a conure to me. We have populations of parrots here in FL, and they can be a nuisance. One of their cute habits is to bite one chunk out of every orange on a tree.

If there were an introduced species taking one bite out of each of my money making fruits, I'd call it a target:rolleyes:

It certainly does look like a lovebird to me (my wife breeds 'em, anyone want one?), although the picture is quite small...

Parrot species are not 'introduced' into the wild, here. They are released by morons, or are escapees! Federal laws do not allow for the introduction of non-native species (of anything) into the ecosystem. But it obviously does happen, anyway...
