Hello Everyone,
I am getting ready to purchase a new tractor. I have been looking for awhile at all brands and almost went with a used JD 990. For some reason I decided to look at Montana again. I have a great dealer just a few short miles from where I live. Been selling Montana's for years. I stopped by there on my way home, I was looking at the r3644 closely, but after reading the forums it seems the compacts are small for someone 6'5". I sat on one today and agree 100%. It would work but not very comfortable. I will be using it to mow about 8-9acres and lots of loader work around the house. I was not trying to spend too much money. I then decided to go look at a 4340c and REALLY like that model. My dealer has a 4340 but am trying to convince my wife that I really need a cab. That's not going to good. I am looking at around 4k from the R3644 to go to the 4340 without a cab. I need somebody to assure me that Montana is the way to go, I am having no luck from the farmers around me with this. They are all JD and New Holland fans and tell me to steer clear of the Montana. For some reason I keep going back and really like this tractor. Should I go with the R3644 or the 4340? My next question would be, what is a good price on the R3644 w/FEL and the 4340 w/FEL? I was quoted today
$18900 R3644
$22900 4340
$25900 4340c this one is a demo.

I really would like the 4340c but don't see spending that much.

Do these tractors re-sell ok? Can I look at getting 1000+hrs trouble-free?
Thanks for all the posts, I need to make my mind up ASAP.

I purchased a 3440 HST W/FEL a couple of months ago for my 5 acres. It is a great machine so far with no problems.I have read the forums on montana and other tractors and it appears all tractors have problems at some point and some models more than others! If you have researched the particular model you are thinking to purchase and have researched your needs versus your wants and looked at the pro's and cons then its time to buy and right now will be the best time for that choice.I see you are in virginia and you are not to awful far from N.C. there seems to be some package deals left there and a few other places where you could get a couple impliments and the trailer to haul it for the prices you Quoted and less.Another consideration is all the extras you get standard on the montana you will eventualy need and pay for on the other brands!I've been to other forums with the top brand tractors where they have had big troubles too.But the troubles I've seen on the montana sites dont seem as large or people not talking about them?Good luck and happy shopping I hope this helped?

I purchased a R3644 Montana about 1.5 years a go with a tooth bar and loaded tires for 15K new. The tractor has been absolutely great. The 4 cylinder Mitsubishi motor is very smooth an the feature of the tractor are very hard to beat for the money. Montana is switching over to KuJuke as there tractor supplier instead of LG as these units are so, I would suspect you should check around for better pricing. LG will be around for a long time and so will montana so I don't think parts will be a problem.

If you buy the same tractor with the feature in name brand (I E, JD, Kubota ) you will pay 25-35 % more and will get less as far as features.

Resale will however be less than the big boys. So the question is are you going to get a tractor to sell in a few years or are you going to get it to use for the long haul.

I prefer the extra 4K in my pocket and the better tractor with more features (I E Montana).

I am going with a Montana R4944. It lists out for $28261.00. After rebates and dealing with the dealer its down to $24000.00. He is giving me $9000.00 on my Landtrac330hst. I will get a cash rebate of $1000.00 from Montana, that brings the final price down to $14000.00 and my tractor. This is the same tractor as the LS R4020h.(it has a HST,Quick release bucket and R4 tires) They are also built for McCormick and I believe they were made for Landtrac. I have to go 81 miles to get it,but found a Montana dealer 20 miles away that stopped selling tractors, because of the economy, and he said he will service it. He also told me that parts would not be a problem, because of all the LS tractors they have built. If I was you I would shop around,I think you can do better on the price.
