HELP! My wife wants to use the tractor!

OK, so how do you tell your wife that you don't want to share your tractor with her?
Don't get me wrong, she's not the stay at home and bake type, she does just about as much yard work as I do. In fact, she's a 6'+, semi-pro volleyball player, who pulls her weight, so to speak. In other words, she's great. However, she does have a tendency to be accident prone/unaware, and I own a sub-cut that has to be operated on a steep, uneven hill! In addition, she doesn't have a working knowledge of machinery, so if something sounds amiss, I think she'd probably just keep going, and may tell me about it later. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Oh yeah, we both work, so she's already given me the line, "it was my money that bought the tractor, too..."

Tell her that is your money that bought the dishwasher too but you don't expect to use it too!

You will not win /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif just try to keep her from getting hurt by first limiting her to the flatter areas till she gets familiar with the tractors operation and use.

You need her to convince herself that she doesn't want to use the tractor. Let her use it once and when she is finished, sneak out and let the air out of the tire. She will think it was something she did. Or, leave the PTO on and hand her the keys and tell her to have at it. When it won't start ask what did she do to it. Then when you go start it flip the PTO off and start it without any problems. You have to make her think she has no business on the tractor. Actually, I did offer her the rider mower as "her" tractor. Since it was made by JD for Scotts (the Home Depot special) it's even orange to match the Kubota. I'm tempted to even paint "hers" in fancy script on it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
