My 9n has one exhaust valve seat that is burnt really bad. It looks like it was ran for some time with it leaking.
I'm going to try recutting it.
Does anyone know the angle? It looks like a 45 but I'm guessing.

Also I would really prefer to replace the seat but I can't find anything on a new one. Is there any place that has them, or is there one from something else that will fit?

Thanks for any help :)
John

Your better off taking it to a machine shop the does head and block work. They have the necessary tools to grind or replace the seats and grind the valves.

a few years ago when I was doing some seat work the seats were multi angle valve job, first ground at a 45, and then then 60 and 30 but a little sharper on the top and also on the bottom side, leaving about 1/8" ring of a contact point on the vale it self, and sometimes there as a 1 degree interface difference between the angle of the valve and the seat, John Maher Racing >> The importance of the 3 angle valve job

sound like to me what you may want to do is have it bored and have a hardened valve seat inserted,

and do not forget your valve guides, if there worn things will not last that long,

any good engine machine shop should be able to get seats from the smallest engine to large diesels,
there are a number of companies that sell the productions, I have been out of it for some time so my knowledge is not up to day on thay, but even tho I have a valve and seat grinder I took my last engine to a engine machinist to have new seats put in, and the valves reconditioned, to bore the seat needs to be very precession, I have done it a few times on heads but not on blocks,
the tools for engine are made for engine work, a general machine shop tools are different, and the tooling is special, yes I know there are workarounds, but if you want a good job, take to a trusted engine machine shop,

I bought a lot of stuff form Goodson, Goodson Tools & Supplies | Goodson Tools & Supplies

You can buy the seats here. Probably need to take the block to a machine shop to have them installed.

Thanks everyone for the info.
I'm going to try cutting the seat thats there. I don't think its salvageable but its worth a shot.
I have a 45 and 30 cutter. I'm going to have to skip the 60.
If it doesn't work out I'll have to get a new seat now that I know where to get one.
It doesn't sound too difficult getting them out. They say to weld 3 spots on the seat and it will crack. Then you can get it out. I can handle that. Pressing the new one in is no problem either. The machine shop is out of the question. The motor is still in the tractor. It's too much work getting it out and hauling it to the shop.
