Was cutting the grass and then ran out of gas. Filled it went to start it, nothing totally dead. Battery is good. I replaced the key switch and solenoid. I checked for continuity on the switches and there fine. At wits end. I cross jump the solenoid and it starts till i take off the brake in wjich the motor stops, a d go to turn the key totally dead. Any help would be much appreciated.

You really should use spell checker.

So when you had the motor running and then released the brake, where you on the seat?

Yes I was on the seat. I checked the seat switch for continuity and it was good. Also checked the brake switch and the pto switch for continuity and they were good.

It sounds seat switch like or in the circuit. There are different versions depending on your build. As you are checking these switches, do you know what they are supposed to do or just going by continuity one way, not the other? Brake and PTO switches can have 2 terminals that are normally open and 2 that are normally closed. Some fairly common things on these are the little bolt for the paddle which activates the PTO switch breaks and will cause a no crank situation. Engine mount bolts seem to come loose a fair amount on these, the engine shifts damaging the harness at the relays behind the engine.

I've tried the switches both ways. I'll check the harnesses

The only way it starts is crossing the solenoid. Then as its running when I release the brake it dies. When I turn the key I get nothing no click no nothing. I replaced the solenoid and a new key switch so far.

Check the PTO switch (how many wires go into it?). If it has more than 2 wires, then the switch may still be the problem.
