I was looking at a Cadet 8404 that was listed by the seller as 55hp and I found out thanks to this forum it's a 41hp smaller than I wanted. SOOOOOO.

I found a 2003 John Deere with 900 hrs 4x4, FEL, 1 year old brush hog, 1 year old BB, Hay spear for the FEL and back, 2 remotes in back for 17,500.00 its 45 min from my place and the guy will del for free.

I think its a pretty good deal but wanted some opinions.

I looked it up and it shows 53hp and 46hp pto so is it a 53hp tractor or 46?

The guy says it will pick up 4 x 5 round bales no prob ????

I am going to look at it Tue. AM so we will see

He also has a grapple that he will sell for 1,500.00 its only been used a few times and he says he paid 1859.00 for it.

A lot would depend on the condition of the tractor, tires, type transmission, quality and condition of the implements and loader. Have you looked at Tractorhouse and Machinefinder to get a general idea? Also tractordata link, TractorData.com John Deere 5210 tractor information

Yes I looked on Tractor house and it looks lik a good deal compared to what is listed.

When I looked up the specs it shows 1998 to 2000 but not 2003

Tractordata.com shows 2000 to 2004 to be a model 5220 so he may have the year or model wrong.

Have you considered what your long term needs are for a tractor? Upgrading tractors can be an expensive route to take, you may find it is cheaper to buy exactly what you need the first time. A new tractor with warranty and the features you need may be a better long term deal.

LBrown59 thanks for the reply but not sure what you meant by.

I looked at a 2000 John Deere 5210 4x4 with about 900 hrs.
I meant to say the engine is listed as 53hp and the PTO is 46hp if someone asks what HP tractor is that what would I say 53? or 46?

Thanks again
