I'm a first time tractor buyer and just bought an MF 135 Deluxe. The plate with the serial number that should be below the instrument panel is missing. Is there any other way to figure out the year of this tractor?

Thanks for your help. This is an awesome website.

If you get the serial number from the engine, you could call a Perkins distributer and they could tell you at least what year the engine was made. More than likley it was installed the same year.
The 135 was made from, I think, 1963 to about 1972 or 73. And then again it could have a Continental Gas. Perkins Gas I think came later

Used Tractor Price Guide shows that the SN should be on steering column below instrument panel - maybe its on a plate you refer to.. anyway the years of mfg seem to be from 1964 to 1975 - the numbers from 1964 to 1967 started with 6410XXXXX - and beginning in late 1967 changed to 9A1XXX___

Good luck with the search. Don't know if they do like auto makers and put it in several places on vehicle but at least you may know what format the number will look like.
