None at the moment
Attached a picture of it, sorry for the bad quality. I know the picture is blurry and not very good but can anyone identify it? Heard it was a model b but it looks a little different. Could it be an a or g?, not sure. Thanks

My first tractor was a John Deere, "B" I think. I still have it. It has pedals and a chain drive so this is a matter dear to my heart. I pulled up lots of pictures and of the three tractors you mentioned, the only one I saw with an enclosed radiator that had the breather intake and the exaust on opposite sides of the center line was the "G". Hopefull a real John Deere man will step in and say for sure.

Model G.. grew up on one.. Bigger than the model A, and that was bigger than the model B

TractorData.com John Deere G tractor information

Stuckmotor.. The model B didn't have a chain drive, maybe you are thinking of a much older one.
Model D had a chain drive I believe.

But you pulled out the correct model G out of the hat, as the only one with the stacks across from each other.

I did a little more research. The following URL tells how to tell the Deere letter series tractors apart. The Letter Series
Thanks for asking the question. Sometimes I can almost smell the fresh paint on the used JD M my brother and I had as youngsters.

beenthere,

You're the real John Deere man I was talking about clearing up the tractor ID.
When I said my first tractor had chain drive and pedals I meant it was a pedal tractor. When my feet turned the pedals the chain drove the rear axle. I was around two years old and my grandfather gave it to me for Christmas. I keep meaning to get a picture up for my avatar.

Ahh stuckmotor.. that crossed my mind when I was looking up which tractor may have had a chain drive.. and went back as far as the D. Was pretty sure the Waterloo Boy did as well.

The model G looks to be very similar to the one on the farm I worked at when 13-16 years old in '53-'55. Brute power, but no power steering and you didn't turn the front wheels unless the tractor was moving. With no live PTO and a hay baler and wagon in tow, it was some fast moving to pull the clutch, take out of gear, and get the clutch engaged again to keep the baler moving. If you missed a second or two, the baler stopped dead, and it was unplugging-the-baler time with the pitchfork.

Just trying to identify some old pics of family? The condition of the model G would appear to be a pic from the middle 50's, but that would just be a guess.
Are there family members in the pic as well? just curious.
