I'm a novice, but this shouldn't be so hard! I can't get the driveline from the bush-hog fully attached to the tractor's PTO. I can't feel any obstructions, it absolutely seems like it ought to slide all the way on there, but it won't budge past a certain point. The front edge of the driveline stops about 1/4 inch from the circular groove on the PTO shaft. Please help! Thanks!

There are a few differant ways to lock the PTO drive line on the tractor. If yours does not have a push button on the tractor end it will have a collar. These collars work in two ways. It will need to be pulled back toward the shaft or rotated around the end to release the lock. When you have done that it will slide onto the PTO shaft. When you release the collar slide it on the PTO shaft until it locks into the grove.
