HELP - subfloor for vinyl

Immediate problem -
We are having sheet vinyl put down and the contractor talked 1/4" luan for underlayment.

And shows up with PEGBOARD!

I don't like it and he's trying to talk me into using the pegboard.

Yeah, I cannot imagine how that would work with holes all throughout. When we do vinyl we putty the screw holes and the seams between the sheets to ensure no sagging or dips occur. That would be a nightmare having all those dips I would think.

pegboard?! A BIG no! it will telegragh through. There are many other suitable products and pegboard is not one of them.

The pegboard actually looks like it had been used elsewhere before.
