any ideas what its called or where to order it?

Thanks ahead!

It's call Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene, UHMWP for short. Here's the first site I came across UHMW Sheet | UHMW Sheets | Plastics International . The stuff is slippery for sure, I've used it for numerous applications at work from 1/4" thick for sliding gates on a salt/sand hopper to over 2" thick for sliding a 140+ ton vehicle ferry on.
In the ferry application (Englishtown Ferry - Nova Scotia Image) it was too slippery and it couldn't be used. It was supposed to stop the wearing of the abrasion strips on the bottom of the ramp, which it did. Only problem the ferry was too hard to keep docked without constant power and it had to be removed.....Mike

I think this place carries a product that is a type of plastic and ulta slippery. A few years back I used some for a wear shin on a plow and I am near certain this is the place I got it.

This is a place I use http://tinyurl.com/cylmmpw . They have an area out front where the off cuts are, they don't give them away but it's a great souce for odds and ends. I've also bought some clear and smoked Lexan there to makes lowers for my bike.
I try and time my needs when I have to pick up something for work and a lot of times they'll just give it to you, depending on size of course...Mike

If you have a place around that has anything to do with dirt track cars they use 1/8" thick plastic that is pretty durable. It's not quite like Tyvar (like what you would use between the truck and trailer on a semi) but a lot cheaper.

A lot of cutting boards are made from UHMW and can be had in many thicknesses. A food equipment supplier will have larger and thicker pieces.
