hello
We have new Aronia plantation and biggest problem is cultivating weeds between plants, in row. Spacing is 32". My girlfriend and his family now do this with hand tools but this is really hard. Now new problem is irrigation tube but we can raise it up.
Which tractor attachment or maybe hand-motor tool we can buy to kill weed between bushes AND for between rows? For between rows he use tractor rototilling ( img0118.png) but I think that better tool will be cultivator (4d5f328c0eb078e5991fdd7b59308236.jpg,lees power higher speed)?

video, 1:29, for plants, you can see weeds around, spacing, bla bla.

thanks

Humus machine from France if you can find one. In the 80's were over $7000 each! I bought 3 at an auction for $300 each and sold one for $2400. Here's a link with picture of one. The sensor arm only moves it over as much as it has to to go around tree's. For small tree's you can put stakes in the ground for the sensor to work off of.

Yes, a cultivator would be the best tool to do the job in the least amount of time. Depending on the size of your tractor, you can get a 1 row, 2 row, 4 row or larger cultivator, all with adjustable shanks so you can match the spacing to your row spacing.

yes, I saw this machines, Side Shifting Rotary Tiller, examples:

What I dont like:
1. machine does not penetrate sufficiently in row.
2. in this first or second year plant is soft and I am not sure if plant can trigger sensor to move out machine.
3. all this machines when go back in row have minimum 5" distance from plant and in this space leave weed. Two reason for this, to much tractor speed and/or slow machine return in row. So I need to go both sides to kill weed.

for smaller plantation this bellow tools will be ok but i have in plan 20000 aronia plants and must have machine:

The weed badger will work very well for you tilling your
chokeberry plants if you pound wooden survey stakes next
to them and leave them there until the trunks of the plants grow thicker.

The rod that controls the swing motion barely touches the stake or
trunk of the vine and the tilling head or mowing head pulls back until
the rod passes the survey stake or trunk of the vine.

The weed badger can dig deep, so do not think it is not capable of doing
what you want to do.

By tilling near the berry plants with the survey stakes in place you will have
less hand weeding to do if any and using a flail mower between the rows
will keep the weeds back with little work.

Weed badger owners have to work on both sides of the row and do this anyway
to control weeds so you have to understand that and running a wide cultivator
is riskier than using a weed badger and a flail mower to manage the vegetation.
