Please understand, my wife is very intelligent. She can do differential calculus or multivariate statistical analyses and reads mathematical and physics journals for recreation. But she is the most "un-mechanically oriented" person I have ever met in my life.

The dealer tried to teacher to put that bush hog on. And I spent alot of time trying to put that bush hog on. Part of it was a strength problem -- she just couldn't come up with enough strength to hold the PTO shaft while she tried to hook it into the PTO cylinder thingy that comes out of the tractor. Or to get the pins into their holes when they really didn't want to go in.

Anyway, there is no way around it -- I must get her some kind of Quick Hitching System.

If you have used a quick hitch system, please share your experiences.

Thank you in advance.

A Quick Hitch system wont help this. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Man are you lucky. You've got an excuse to get some more toys. Whether a quickhitch works or not. The hitch won't help hooking up the PTO shaft though. By the way, is your wife an injunear? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sometimes for hitch pins and link pins, a little "convincer" in the toolbox can really help. Some people say a "convincer" looks a lot like a hammer, but they are probably mistaken, because none of us would hammer on our tractor's link arms. ...would we? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I, for one, will not hammer on steel. I might use a wood block, and hammer on it. Usually a hammer is too light, but a maul will add the extra persuassion that is needed.

But alas, the quick hitch (I-match for me) is the ONLY way to go, IMO. I will never look back at the chore of aligning a 3pt attachment up again (knock on wood).

You're right for some of my pins a hammer won't do. I use a 3 lb sledge. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif (Sometime sa log or rock depending on how far away from tools I am) As far as the PTO going on the tractor shaft. I find a combination of WD40 and spray grease will help a lot here. A pair of channel locks will squeeze the release pins if they are stuck. After a little usage and kept greased they work pretty easily. As far as quick hittches, either Freedom or oen of the triangle type hitches are easiest for someone having problem hooking up.

I used to use a rubber mallet to convice the pins to line up, but I switched to PAT's Easy Change and my convincing days are long gone.

Pat's Easy Change might have helped on the pin situation.

I agree... A quick hitch will not help pto hookup in the least. If it is a strenght problem.. it may just be an issue of you hooking up the mower the night before for her..

As for hammering on steel.. I do it.. with a big copper mallet. Works fiine.. no sparks.. or damage to the tractor.. mallet is beginning to mushroom.. but for 2.99 at harbor freight.. it's doing its job...

My wifes not much help on the tractor either.. nothing personal.. she just isn't 'into' it, and therefore doesn't put forth 110% like we tractor nuts enthusiastically do.

I believe GreenAcres's tractor has the New Holland extending links on the 3PH, so I'm not sure Pat's Easy Change could be adapted. Do you know if they are compatible? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
