I bought a 1997 massey ferguson compact mower this summer. The tractor is 4-wheel drive (i mow a hillside) it works great. The problem is the mowing deck. It doesn't do a very good job. It beats down the grass only cutting about half of it. I have put on new blades and a new belt, but it didn't help. It seems like the blades are turning too slow. I also had to put a smaller spring on the tension pulley in order to get the belt to be tight enough to turn the blades. The dealer says it is the correct belt. Anyone else encounter this problem. Does anyone have a belt diagram or know where i can get a manual. I thought i had bought one, it turned out to be a parts manual. The tractor is a MF 1215, the mower is a MF 1231, 54" deck.
