I wasted the $70 on the service manual and would you believe it - not one mention about the fuel filter in the whole manual.
I am trying to figure out how to replace the filter, I thought on the bottom there would be a screw to take the bowl off but instead I see an electrical connector.
Do i need to remove that first?
Also I have seen some posts regarding having two filters on this tractor.

Also any help on the HST filter and Transmission filter would be greatly appreciated.
I am fairly new to tractor maintenance as this is my first one.

I am however already designing my Grapple, so If anyone has any info about adding 3 function Controls I could use that help as well.

Hope that's not too much for one post,
Thanks

I have the 1538 but I thought they shared the same motor. Snap a photo of the fuel filters and if they are the same we may be able to help.

With regards to HST filters I've been told it's not worth getting anything other than the factory filter. The HST filter is a higher pressure filter and an aftermarket filter may fit but not be designed for the higher pressures.

If the motor is the same as mine the secondary filter (first filter after the tank) is a simple cartridge filter that can be sourced from many manufactures. However, the primary spin on filter has been difficult to source. I've ended up with the stock Bosch filter there. The Bosch filter doesn't need to be changed very often though.

I have the 1538 that uses the same engine so as far as fuel filters they are likely the same. There are two filters, the first filter uses a cheap paper element. You undo a bolt on the top of the filter to remove the bowl. There is also a 10mm drain in the bottom of the bowl. When you remove this bowl your tank will drain completely so be prepared for that. It's a good idea not to have much fuel in the tank when you do this for obvious reasons. There is also a 2nd much more expensive Bosh spin on filter up higher on the left side of the engine toward the rear. YOu need to unscrew the moisture sensor then you can spin that one off. I think I did a write up on all of this much earlier on that goes into bleeding the air out of the fuel system etc. after you change out this filter. There is a bleed valve on the top of the second filter that you should open before you use the primer to get the air out. Otherwise you'll have a devil of a time getting it to start and run.

Thanks guys.
I actually did read and print out your post Dick. Thanks for all the help. I am using all mahimdra parts for the first go round.
Until I know more, I'll probably stick with them. A few dollars for parts is better than thousands for some turned down warranty claim.
Thanks again guys.

Well the cheapie paper thing if not an issue but the second Bosch filter is the pricey one. Just so you know, it's a Bosch filter.

When you make the change if you havnt figured it out yet be sure the gasket for the water sensor stays with the sensor... on the first change they like to stick on the filter and need to be peeled off... iv had to many toss the filter and have to get the whole water sensor to get the gasket... I found ways around all that though these days

Yup, I saw that when i took off the water sensor.
What about the paper fuel filter on the other side - I think it will drain the tank when i pull it - sound right?
