I've got a 3616 shuttle and my girlfriend was running the tractor with the auger to dig some holes. We are using a 12" auger bit. Anyway she let it dig till it killed the tractor and put everything in a bind. I can't get the pto lever on the side to disengage so I can crank the tractor and the auger is in such a bind I can't get it disconnected!!

What should I do?? My tractor is stuck on the side of a hill with an auger 3 feet in the ground an it won't crank!

Thanks for the help!

I'm barely a beginner in tractoring. But, my first thought is that pressing in the clutch to start the tractor... wouldn't that keep the PTO from turning? If you hold in the clutch until the tractor "catches", then you could try to disengage PTO lever. I know very little, but thought that might help. Others will help shortly, I think.

A large pipe wrench with a pipe over the handle for leverage should unscrew the augur from the ground or at least move it enough to disconnect the pto shaft from the tractor. Then you can start it up.

We can get the shaft off but the lever is still stuck. The tractor won't crank with the lever engaged. The PTO is off since it has a separate electrical switch that actually engages it.

Its a shuttle shift with independent pto i'm sure. Id definitely try to get that auger off and release that bind.

As long as you have the auger pto shaft unattached from the tractor, remove the wires from the pto safety switch and then connect the 2 wires together. I believe the tractor will then start and once started maybe the bind on that lever will release. When you have it free, reconnect the wires to the savety switch.

We tugged it with a 4wd blazer and were able to get the lever unstuck! We sheared the pins on the auger doing it though. I got another shear pin in it but it sheared as soon as I engaged the PTO. This was all at 10pm last night but at least the tractor is free lol. I will worry about that auger bit later.

I just read what you said lawalls, where are those wires? That would have been easier and maybe necessary if it happens again!

Thanks for the help everybody!
