I'm in the process of doing an in-frame "overhaul" (rings, rod bearings, valve job) on my TL3200 & have run in to a problem getting the cam timing right. I have a manual for a White field boss 2-32, which all my searching tells me is the same tractor, but the White manual shows the engine (Isuzu 4fa1) having timing gears - mine has a chain. I've seen references to earlier versions of this engine having a chain, but I can't find those references now. The cam sprocket is tapered & there's a keyway on the cam, but not in the sprocket & (obviously) no key. Before I disassembled the engine I turned the engine so that the only indicator mark on the injection pump was at 12:00, and made a mark on the crankshaft at 12:00 and a mark that corresponds with the keyway on the cam that was also at 12:00. But now after I reinstalled everything I can't turn the engine a complete revolution (by hand) before it comes to a hard stop from what I assume is a piston hitting a valve. I'm pretty sure I have the timing close, but I can't find any information online for the proper procedure to set it. Does anyone have any idea of where I can find the information? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
