wptmd I had the same thing happen to me when I couldn't disconnect the brush hog one day. I thought maybe because since I was in reverse a lot I musi have hit something that put it under pressure.
Well I got tired hunching over it so after disconnecting everything else I just pulled the female end of the drive shaft off the brush hog.
Now I had some work space, layed a pipe on the coupler and beat it with a hammer. Finally got it so the button would push in/out and the coupling would move an eighth of an inch back and forth. btw all this time I'm sitting on a bucket so it's become less of a hassle.
After awhile it came off now I'm careful to always paint the inside of the couplers with oil a few times a year and always a few days before I use 'em.
