Hi guys,
Anyone have a good (cheap) place to find control valves? I need a simple DA single spool valve with power beyond. Surplus Center has them but they want $265 for one! Looked on eBay and nothing is presently up for auction.

Thanks,
Phil

You don't mention the specs of the valve you are looking at but Surplus Center is your best bet for finding valves with the best price.

I have no idea which valve you are looking at especially the gpm. There are plenty of valves at Surplus Center that are single spool, DA with relief and PB. The Prince SV for example is $125 and you can see it HERE. The Eaton-Cessna valve is $179 and you can see it HERE.

Remember, those 20 gpm and above valves are huge monsters and don't belong on a CUT or subCUT.

MadReferee,
Thanks for the reply I’ll add as much info as I have. What this is for, is a large wood splitter; I know the pump puts out 13 gpm. This valve controls the lifting arms. I’m not the one putting it together, all that I was told is that it has to be a power beyond with ¾ npt supply and ½ npt working ports. I’m assuming that he could use adapters to fit the hoses but probably does not want to. It would be nice if the lifting arms could “hold” the position where the operator puts it.

The Prince SV will work just fine and I am sure there are others that will too. Using adapter fittings to match with hoses is done all the time and cost only a couple of bucks each. It's a whole heck of a lot cheaper to use adapter fittings than to pay over $100 more to get something else.

Ok, one more question. The Prince link takes me to a stacked valve. This is going to be used by itself; do I need to purchase a base or end plate of some form?

The SV valve comes in sections. You will need an inlet section, an outlet section and a spool section. The packaging from Surplus Center includes the inlet and outlet sections but you have to choose the right inlet/outlet combination. An open center with power beyond is what you want.

You then choose the spool section that you want. Section B is what is normally used for tractor rear remotes. Call Surplus Center. They have people that can help you make the right choices.
