I have had my Jinma for about 4 months. I was using the front end loader to move alot of dirt. I noticed that the front end loader kept dropping when it was loaded Then I had noticed that I had no power in high gear. I have power when I am in low gear. I checked the hydrolic and transmission fluid. They were both low but when I filled them, there was no change in the problems.

Any ideas on what to look for regarding these problems?

Is your 284 set up with the single or dual hydraulic pump configuration? and is there any unusual noise when attempting to lift the FEL, when using the TPH, when steering? Is your engine oil level higher than expected?

I am not sure if it is setup dual or single. There was no unusal noises. I started noticing that the bucket would drop a little. I would raise it back up with a load. Then I put the tractor in high. It would barely pull itself but in low it seems to be fine. I checked all of my fluids and they were low. I filled them back up and it didn't help with the problem.

Any ideas on what might be going on. Does it sound like the transmission is going out? The tractor has about 20 hours on it.

Thanks for any information.

I'm sorta working without a net here, as there's almost no information to work with. Ordinarily, the two problems would seem unrelated; engine power and hydraulic leakdown. But since it sounds like they started about the same time, I think since the engine-driven hydraulic pump should be considered.

Trace out the FEL hydraulic hoses, all the way back to the pump. Then describe the configuration please. If you've got the single pump, you should have leakdown on the TPH as well as the FEL - and steering might be affected. A dual pump configuration that separates FEL and TPH/steering functions changes the picture. Refer to your 284 parts manual to distinguish between single and dual pump setups.

Have you put a load on the TPH to see if it has a leakdown to match the FEL? The engine power problem, does it manifest itself whether the engine is hot or cold? Who assembled the tractor, and what kind of dealer/warranty support do you have?

One idea comes to mind. If your loader control valve is not closing, you could have backpressure on the system, the added load on the pump could be what is robbing the engine of some power, more eveident in higher ranges.

The drop could be when pressure is demanded by another system, either steering or 3 point lift.

Do you notice the lack of power in high range when the bucket is empty?

Do you have a heavy implement on the 3 point?

You can take the loader out of the question by disconnecting the quick connects (BE SURE TO RECONNECT THE LINE FROM THE PUMP TO THE PRIORTY VAVLE or damage can (read that WILL) result).

if your power situation improves, you may have the answer.

Of course these may be unrelated issues, in which case there will be other things to check out.

Please keep us posted as to what you find

One more question is do you have the ZL-20 FEL or an aftermarket as in Breat Bend, Koyker or one of the others?

the ZL-20 can leak down soem and that is not unusual if you have a heavy load in the bucket... the lack of power in 3rd, could mean the brakes are set!? ya been there done that, and I've got 200 hrs on mine, and still occasonaly do it. last week had a good sized rock in the fel and couldn't get her to move it in hh1, so went to LH3 and drove off soem 400 feet moving/pushing the rock. then realized I had the breaks set /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

my loader leaks down some when it heats up and get the hyd fluid warm. more so with the big rocks in there /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

make sure you go to Johns S web site and read up on all the JINMA info, the cheap insurance is very needed. electrical tie wraps on the FEL disconnect hyd fittings so they don't POP off and blow the pump... also read the other FARM PRO and NORTRAC posts as those are all JINMAS too. and all relate back to similar systems even on different sized units.
